Customer Rating: Summary: A great beach read! Comment: Tan Lines tells the story of three women who have been friends since college. They have little in common and yet they stay in touch, usually meeting up for the occasional girly weekend.
This summer, however, they've rented a houseshare in The Hamptons so they'll be spending a great deal of time together. This could make or break their friendships.
Rock star Billie Shelton, feminist Liza Pike and budding actress Kellyanne Downey are all embracing this opportunity to get away from it all.
Billie's career is on the skids, followed swiftly by her sanity. Liza feels her marriage is a pointless exercise and plans to ditch her hunky fireman husband, just as soon as she's written her next book. Kellyanne has nothing to call her own. She's in a lucrative relationship with a rich property developer and is basically at his beck and call. Far from giving her freedom, though, the relationship traps her. If she wants to do something, but her lover says no, then that's the end of it.
By the end of the summer, though, the girls' lives have drastically changed, but not necessarily for the better...
Tan Lines is a bittersweet book. There are many ups and downs, and glimpses into not-so-perfect lives of the rich and famous. Full of perversion and tragedy, Tan Lines isn't your typical happy-ever-after novel - but it is a perfect beach read.
Customer Rating: Summary: Trashy but good Comment: This more than lived up to its promise to be a trashy sexy summer read. It's perfect beach fodder and should be read with this in mind: don't expect anything more than that. Its biggest flaw however was the ending, which was rushed and entirely unsatisfying. I also didn't particularly bond with any of the characters but Billie and Liza's lives provided most of what the book had to offer; Kelly Anne was my least favourite because of all of them she was the dullest. Overall though, it still deserved 4 stars for its entertainment value and keeping me interested with plenty of sex and drama.
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointment Comment: I have totally waste my time reading this book! I thought about giving up half way through but persevered. The characters were dull, the story line did not read well, and the ending was terrible....definitely not a nice uplifting book to take away for a beach read! Thoroughly disappointed!
Customer Rating: Summary: ok BUT a bit disappointing.... Comment: After reading the 1st few pages i couldn't wait to read the whole story.
The story begins at the end, so i was eager to read on...
The characters were ok, the book is VERY raunchy! However i do believe that this is the only resemblance to the great 'Jackie Collins'...
Like i've said in previous reviews if i start a book i always finish it. Unlike a lot of the books i have reviewed i WANTED this book to end! A lot of the chapters were very boring, and i actually found myself skipping pages.
I thought the ending was a little too rushed as well.
Read it for yourself though and see what you think...
Customer Rating: Summary: A great holiday read Comment: Really enjoyed this book, it's an easy, holiday read and I found it to be a real page turner. I think some people are looking into it a bit too much. If you want something a bit more high-brow i'd suggest you don't get this. Perhaps previous negative reviewers were expecting a bit too much from a book with a trashy name and a picture of a half-naked woman on the front! That said, it is a clever and well written book and I will look out for the next book.
