Summary: Hours of pleasure!
Comment: This album has brought me hours of pleasure.
It is beautifully sung by Kiri te Kanawa, her floating legato voice simply soaring and caressing the notes, and it is such relaxing music, it will dispel all your tiredness and tension. Not only are there lovely floating songs, but also cheeky little 'stories' that are told in song as well, and the whole album is brilliantly complied and structured.
It is an absolute joy!

Summary: Practically perfect in every way:)
Comment: I heard this album on CD when it was first released and was overwhelmed. IMHO, it is the best Dame Kiri you will hear. The way that her voice emerges from the orchestra rather than simply attacking the first note, as others do, in the Shepherd's Song transports you to somewhere else. The orchestra's playing is flawless and has some of the best oboe I have ever heard.Highly recommended!

Summary: Canteloube: Chansons d'Auvergne
Comment: This is simply a beautiful CD to listen to when you want to relax and evoke thoughts of summer and happy times. Kiri Te Kanewa's voice is clear and joyful - I don't listen to much 'classical' type music but this is music worth owning.

Summary: Famous recording
Comment: This is one of the benchmark recordings of Songs of the Auvergne, and one of Dame Kiri's biggest successes. Be warned however that this is one of the earlier Double-Deccas (1995) released before Decca started including the texts as standard with these releases.
