Editorial Reviews:

The fifth Pokémon movie takes Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu to the city of Altomare, a thinly disguised Venice guarded by the shape-shifting Pokémon Latios and Latias. Two new agents of Giovanni's, Annie and Oakley, are out to capture these rare Pokémon--reducing Team Rocket to the role of spectators. Latios and Latias are linked to an elaborate, computer-generated mechanism that defends the city, controls the tides and brings fossil Pokémon back to life. Ash and Pikachu foil the evil plan with some help from Misty, Brock, and Bianca, a girl who lives in Altomare with her kindly grandfather. The contrived story suggests that as far as features are concerned, the Pokémon franchise has pretty much run dry. --Charles Solomon

Summary: Ash is Back
Comment: Ash and Misty take part in a race where Pokemon trainers who have water types has the Pokemon pull them around the course.
This movie is OK but I think they could now change the team to the team in the new series of Pokemon which are Ash, Brock, May and Max.
Team Rocket don't really feature in this movie it's more like freelance who are working for there own intrests.
I would rather see the normal Team Rocket foul up again.

Summary: Do not buy this film!
Comment: Do not even bother with this film; the animations are dire, the special effects are awful and the voice recordings should never have existed! Keep away from this film! Even the storyline makes no sence at all!
Even people who enjoy pokemon will find this film a total letdown.
Pokemon Heroes? More like Pokenon Zeros!

Summary: Heroic Exploits
Comment: A considerable improvement from the previous Pokemon movie in the series, Pokemon Heroes : Latios and Latias focuses on the offshore island of Alto Mare (design nicely inspired by Venice) and its heritage; The Soul Dew, a powerful object which has kept water flowing to the island and the two Pokemon Latios and Latias who are Alto Mare's guardians.

Naturally with such rare Pokemon and items floating about its no wonder Team Rocket want in on the action. And they make their entrance in the form of agents Annie and Oakley, fashionable femme fatales with a penchant for power and priceless jewellery. Also the first time, I might add, that the series featured a Team Rocket duo with two women.

A dark scheme unfolds unbeknownst to Ash and friends who are coincedentally messing around Alto Mare having a good time as usual. Sooner or later the paths of good and bad collide directing Ash to once again play his part in helping those in need (and running away very fast from a zombie Kabutops and Aerodactyl)

What was the most memorable difference with this particular movie was the water effects used and the precision they had been blended with the drawn animation. Other CG effects during the film such as the flying craft Annie and Oakley used were also done very well. The soundtrack had a couple of memorable pieces but nothing too stirring.

Overall, an addition to the Pokemon collection well worth seeing...even if Jessie, James and Meowth don't find themselves a particularly interesting part in it.

Just don't forget to keep your box of tissues handy.
