Customer Rating: Summary: Satisfied Comment: Seems a good product. Very light. Easy to assemble (just a case of screwing on the 3 legs). Loses its sheen after the first use, but this was not a problem for me. Too early so say for sure, but seems durable.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sturdy and Sensibly Priced Comment: I was on the hunt for something to burn a decade's worth of paperwork too plentiful for dispatching via the humble domestic shredder when I came across Miss Elliot's contribution above (I'm assuming no man worthy of the name would call himself 'posyflump' even in this day and age) and ordered immediately. That was Sunday. It arrived within 48 hours. I haven't yet put it to use (we're snowbound just now) but the item is certainly well constructed and looks to be exactly what I need.
The incinerator stands at 33-inches (approx. 840mm) with the legs and cover fitted. The flooring of this unit is not detachable, unlike the other, more expensive model Amazon sells. The same is true of the 'chimney', which is part of the moulding of the lid and again is not detachable (in case anyone was wondering). The components by themselves measure 22-inches (approx. 560mm) in height for the container body, 3-inches (approx. 76mm) for the visible part of the legs and 8-inches (approx. 203 mm) for the height of the cover. The diameter of the incinerator is 18-inches (approx. 460mm).
As well as holes in the side there are a further eight slots in the bottom to aid ventilation. A nut and bolt (supplied) arrangement fixes each leg to an opening near to the floor of the incinerator. It's an easy enough job to slip the legs into place and even tighten the nut by hand if you haven't a spanner, but reaching that far in might be a struggle if you're small and a little overweight or perhaps burdened with short arms. (I'm 5'7". It was no trouble really but I did have to adjust my position two or three times before I could reach the nut.)
Finally I should just mention that 'BretShaw' is the shortened form of Brettell and Shaw, a local Black Country company more than a century old, so you'll be supporting English business if you buy this (and even if the firm describing itself as 'british' only provides further evidence to suggest the gene for self-preservation has been all-but bred out of our people). I'm confident at any rate of getting years of reliable use out of my new incinerator. I recommend it as a good buy at a comparatively reasonable price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great bit of kit Comment: Bought this to burn mail etc to avoid identity theft and are thereby serving a double whammy to the environment as our moronic local council won't pick up shredded paper to recycle. AND YET we only get fortnightly refuse collections in order to encourage people to recycle. Go figure?!
Customer Rating: Summary: Dustbin Incinerator Comment: Could`nt find the product any where. How pleased i was to find it on amazon. deilivered within 48hrs, well packed easy to install, and also excellent quality.
