Summary: Top Gear Cool Wall Rating = Cool
Comment: Clarkson has done it again for Christmas with another DVD and the main man The Stig is there as always. All the usual bits and pieces you would expect from fast cars to blowing thibgs up. The cars were great, arial filming on location in the alps is just stunning just what we expect from the Top Gear film crew - top notch work guys (and gals).
It's a showcase of the engineering masterpieces at the present day and age. And as usual, to tie things together, Clarkson's incessant humerous comments provide very frequent bouts of laughter which makes the journey to find the perfect thriller car a highly enjoyable experience.
The only thing I didn't like in the film was that a whole segment towards the middle is based on blowing things up rather than finding the perfect thrill.
It's a very enjoyable film to watch for all the petrol-heads out there and I'd highly recommend it.

Summary: Not so thrilled.
Comment: The title of the DVD suggests that this might be worth £6, based on the presenter's brand and the (usually) high calibre of his car selections.
However, given the theme, I thought it was an astoundingly poor effort. Someone posited that this was perhaps an effort to fill the Clarkson household's coffers and it certainly seems like it. Most of the film focuses on slightly lighter, more expensive race versions of the world's tried and tested 'supercars', reviews of which are ten a penny. New cars are few and far between and when they do make an appearance, they are slated.
The DVD makes a promising start with Maserati's current GT offering and the Alfa Romeo 8C, both refreshingly new cars in the supercar review stakes. Unfortunately, both are heavily criticised and the DB9S which follows fares only slightly better.
After that, it is, as I said, a presentation of slightly lighter, more expensive race versions of the usual procession; Zondas, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches etc. Intermittently we are given a laugh or none with scenes about the destruction of some of Clarkson's pet hates ("comfortable" Lexus', GATSOs, Traffic Police and, the obvious candidate, diesel). His car chase with 'bessy mate' Jodie Kidd had no relevance in the grand scheme of things, while his waiting for women to surround the Pagani was a convenient way to waste some screen time.
The brief appearance of the Ariel Atom raised hopes of salvation from the drudgery and a return to the actual theme of the DVD, but alas, no. We are quickly moved on (not without a dig at motorcyclists, who, ironically, probably get better thrills straddling their ride with the motor idling than watching this DVD) to the next 'contender'.
So, most of the cars get Clarkson's thumb down, but then, many shouldn't have been in the film anyway given what he'd set out to achieve. Poor research (for cars that might actually have had a realistic chance) saw a reliance on the big names. Even the mighty Nissan Skyline GTR R35 is sidelined for being too 'controlled' (how short Clarkson's memory is - what was he waxing lyrical about on the Top Gear race in Japan?).
The biggest disappointment, though, is reserved for the ending. Quelle surprise that it should be a car that Clarkson actually owns that won? His reason for choosing it was even duller, citing the Black's back-end tendency to slide out in corners. Basically, a 'feature' (in the loosest sense of the word, seeing as it's highly unlikely that Mercedes intended it to be that way) that might kill you, gave the Black the edge over all the other contenders (let not the irony of his earlier dig at motorcyclists go amiss, then).
Jeremy, if killing yourself by pushing a car to its limits was the only way a car had a chance at winning in this DVD there were better cars in there (for that purpose). I'd rather go out in style, for example, in either the 430 Scuderia or the 722 GT, both of which looked more refined ways of testing driver skill than that great oaf of a car you chose.

Summary: ANOTHER CHRISTMAS DVD CRACKER!!
Comment: Clarkson has done it again for Christmas with another brillant DVD on you know what and the main man The Stig is there as always. All the usual bits and pieces a must buy for any Top Gear fan or petrol head. Lets hope he carrys on doing them because the guy is a legend!!

Summary: Ok - but not spectacular
Comment: This DVD was ok - but not spectacular - The cars were great, arial filming on location in the alps was great - but it was just too drab - overal speaking. I enjoy Top gear the programme but this 90 minutes or there-abouts did not work for me. I came away thinking, glad i did not buy this one otherwise i would have been disaapointed.
Good to have some more sensible priced cars in as well, scattered around and a few funny sequences with rockets and a big engine. Watch it when your really bored and it might be better. British Army scene was good - i want that vehicle!

Comment: Wow, I really enjoyed this film. It has all the brilliant cars we'd all love to have in our garages. It's a showcase of the engineering masterpieces at the present day and age.
