Start with accuracy

A reliable tape measure^★, rule, square and marking tools form the foundation of accurate woodworking. A good measuring routine reduces wasted material and helps later cuts fit correctly. For repetitive work, templates and guides can improve consistency when used correctly.

Match cutters to the material

Hand saws, circular saws, jigsaws, routers and chisels^★ each have different strengths. Select blades and cutters for the material and cut rather than relying on a universal accessory. Support the work and control dust
